Let's start by talking about the inspiration for this blog. I started this for a few different reasons one being I want to continue making changes in the disability community, I have been blessed by having people like Judy Heumann, Tatyana Mcfadden, and Darlene Hunter who have paved the way for me to what I have but there is still so much more way to go. I want to continue to make changes in the world to better the lives of people living with a disability. My second reason is a lot of what I have done I have had to figure out as I go. There are so many different resources for people with disabilities but those resources are not talked about. I like to think of it like a secret club where unless you are lucky enough to know someone has already gone through something like that you have no idea it exists. I met so many other kids who have no idea adaptive sports exist or there is a way for people with disabilities to drive, go to college, and get a job. Third of all, my reason for starting this blog is to shed light on life with a disability and show how the beauty that comes with having a disability. Having a disability has allowed me to learn lessons at a much younger age, be more empathetic, and have a whole new thirst for life when I realize how precious it is and how quickly things can change. I hope to bring home to a newly diagnosed or a scared parent. The name for this blog comes from my thinking and the way I was raised. I have learned that when you think about all of the things you don't have it can leave you feeling down. But when you start to think about all your blessings and how your experiences or circumstances have given you opportunities. I think if my parents and I knew about everything that is out there for people with disabilities it would have brought a lot more hope for my future. The purpose of this blog is to learn how to live a successful life with a disability. This blog will be filled with all of the advice I wish I had growing up.
